Ok so here is my problem & it’s a doozy! I am a full figured gal, and my “girls” are also full figured. They do not sit nice, not even in a bra. I am always out looking for a bra that makes them sit nice & pretty rather than pointing south. My bra trying on experience is painful to say the least. They never fit, they never sit nice, and they never hold up to the task! Would love to have a proper and correct bra that does the job!

Worst bra-related memory? Hmmmmm. So many! I’m a first-thing-I-do-when-I-get-through-the-door-at-home-is-lose-the-bra kinda girl. Not a huge fan of them. Most likely because I’m wearing the wrong size/fit. But, I digress.

I used to wear these cute, lacy, sorta see-throughish kinda bras. I had tons of them. That was before breastfeeding. When the girls were perky. When they pointed in the same direction…

Now? Well. I finally gave up on the cute, lacy ones because A) they don’t fit anymore anyway and B) I got sick and tired of having to make sure the girls were looking the same way and were at the same height… Who knew I’d ever have to worry about that?! That was not in the handbook.

Now I purchase bras based on yes, their cuteness, but mostly on the fact they are thick enough that I don’t have to worry about standing in front of the mirror with a level every time I put a bra on. Can’t have the girls going every which way and looking like I have a chameleon with its crazy eyes hiding under my shirt.

Such is life. Boobs go back to the way they were before breastfeeding. Sh-ya. Right.

I’m wearing an uncomfortable bra right now!

Because I’m living in the moment with it right now, it feels like my worst bra-related memory.

However, what is probably truly my most memorable bra-related memory is this:

I was in my late teens and shopping with my mother, sister and a friend of hers. I went bra-shopping on my own, and after much struggling, I finally found something that was pretty, and sort of fit. I felt like I was settling, but at least they were pretty.

We all met up and went to the car to go home. My sister saw the telltale bag and was excited to see my purchase. I handed it over and she dug through the tissue paper to dig it out.

When she got it out, she held it over her head and yelled “Oh look, CURTAINS!” (Meaning that my bra was so big, it could double as curtains.)

It was probably a had-to-be-there moment, and I laugh about it now. But at the time I was a bit bummed. It was really hard to find a well-fitting bra for a busty teenager in smalltown Ontario nearly 15 years ago, never mind a pretty one.

Best wishes to all the entrants. :)

My worst bra memory is quite recent. I have a four year old and was (meh) still wearing my black nursing bra. As it was black and comfortable, did it matter to me that it had a huge hole in the back…nope, as I never looked at my back. How pathetic for a 30 something (meh again) to be wearing a bra that is falling apart at the seems.

My thoughts were if I ever got into an accident they would cut it off anyway..right? Did my poor husband care I was wearing this rag. Apparently not, as he only likes to figure out how quick he can unfasten them:)

So I need a lift and together fitting bra to end this nightmare of a mess. I am sure it is the wrong cup size, but I would not know, now would I. Uplift me:)

It was time for my FIRST bra, which I figured out in the locker room during gym class. But my parents had recently divorced and I was living with my dad. So I had to ask him for money to go and buy bras….I was mortified. This is probably my fathers worst bra related memory too!

I have always been well endowed, but never realized that most mall lingerie shops didn’t really carry my size.
I would spend ages trying to find something. the sales girls would measure me and say, oh you’re a DD and then show me the ugly bras that came in that size. They didn’t fit, so they would say, well you need to go to a larger size band.
Everything was I’ll fitted and awful. I would end up in a department store and I would buy a stretchy lace bra in a C cup. I was convinced they were sizing me too big.
Finally, a girlfriend too me to a nice lingerie store, and they measured me. I am a 38 F… oops!
Although, the bras at the “Nice” lingerie store are more expensive, my back and shoulders feel a million times better. No more cheap bras for me.

My most embarrassing bra moment occurred as I was manning a cash register at my university bookstore. I was wearing a front clip bra (I surely couldn’t get away with wearing one of those now!),and somehow, while I was flirting with a cute customer, my bra popped open! There was quite a lineup so I couldn’t get away directly to fix things. I don’t know what everybody made of the look of horror on my face–I was too busy wishing that the earth would open up and swallow me!
I would LOVE a properly fitting bra. I had one once, (from your Burlington store, actually) and I wore it to shreds.

My most embarrassing bra moment happened just last month. With some co-workers, we attend a noon hour exercise class twice a week. I had been uncomfortable wearing a regular bra so had purchased a nifty sports bra. It didn’t feel quite right but I figured it would give a bit with wearing. Unfortunately it gave a lot – on the first jumping jack of the day it came compeltely undone! Not just one hook but all three – I desperately tried to fix it without anyone noticing but by the third time it happened lots of people had noticed so I just gave up and put my sweatshirt back on. That bra went directly into the garbage that night and while the current one is better, it’s definitely not as good as a custom fit would be. Thanks!

When I reached puberty I barely needed a bra. However, at 13 it was rather embarrassing when the boys went to snap the back of my bra strap and there was nothing to snap. That was enough motivation for me to accept my friend’s second hand bra. This “trainer” bra was nothing more than a piece of fabric strapped around my chest.
And so my relationship with bras ensued. Ill fitting and uncomfortable bras seemed to be my destiny. When I finally did need a bra, I couldn’t find one with a small enough cup. Much to my mother’s chagrin, I opted not to wear one. That was OK when my breasts were still small and perky. But I needed support.
I’ve had bras that crinkle under my shirts, straps that slip repeatedly off my shoulders and red marks that look like I have a disease. But the worst bra failure happened on a date. My date kissed me and the strap at the back of my bra snapped off and the bra cup sagged. I feared that it looked like I expected more than a kiss from my date.
Since, I’ve had bras that lack support, cause me to breathe shallow and pucker under my clothing.
So a good fitting bra is long overdue.
